A day later than my normal schedule - blame it on a sudden burst of creative novel planning yesterday - but here we go!

As I have mentioned previously, my graduation celebration should have been at the beginning of this month, complete with an emotional rollercoaster of excitement for the future and appreciation of the past, from awesome nights out to long-haul study sessions with amazing results! Unfortunately, as with most things in this current situation, our celebrations were momentarily cancelled and moved to April 2021. But…this didn’t necessarily mean we couldn’t still celebrate in a different way!

Instead of spending my original graduation day at home, mourning the year that could have been, my family and I instead set up shop in a caravan site at Stanhope, England, right in the heart of some of the most beautiful countryside I have ever seen. The rolling hills, the endless fields of sheep and cows, the gentle streams that lead to the powerfully glorious waterfalls…it was a wonderous site for anyone to behold, budding author or not. Honestly there is nothing better for a girl like me to do than to sit amongst nature with a pen and notebook in hand, breathing in the fresh country air - which, at times, contained the slight musk of animal leavings…ew - and write whatever came to mind. Sometimes this formed a brainwave note for my story planning, a simple and quick poem, or even a statement that I was inspired to put out into the world. You can see some of my latest musings on my Writing Portfolio.

Below are some of my favourite images from the trip - you can see how inspiring the landscape was! My personal favourite was the High and Low force waterfalls, each a beauty of nature that I did not realise we had in the UK!

In other creative news, I am currently going over my second drafted plan of my (hopefully) future novel. Well, considering this initial story has been in my head since 2012 I’d say this is probably plan draft four or five by now, but needless to say I think it is progressing and improving nicely! Every little improvement, every minor adjustment and each word written down, whether you delete it or not later, will always help you in the long run.

As alluded to in my previous entry, I have also been working on some ideas for my Charity Ambassador role - keep an eye on this space for any sneak previews or developments! I am really looking forward to doing what I can, even if it means doing it all from home. Regardless, every child deserves the right to read and I can’t wait to help put this plan in motion!

That is all I have to report for this entry. It won’t be long now before I am back, or at least virtually present, at university and I can start to get back into the swing of things, with a writing routine that works around all other elements in my life, educational and otherwise. I hope you enjoyed this entry and, as always, follow my social medias to keep on track for the next one.

Write soon,

Emily
