Finding My Wings

Hello and welcome to my first blog post! I am excited to share my writing experiences, ideas and inspiration over the weeks. But you’re probably wondering what my motivations behind this site are. So let’s begin…

The idea to start this site came to me as I was wondering what to do with my time one overcast day in June 2020. My university course was finished, having completed my BA (Hons) English degree at the University of Lincoln - finishing the course online at home after the pandemic whipped me away from the city I love - and my Masters course start date was still a few months away, leaving me free time to work on whatever I wished. With lockdown relaxed but still in force, I decided, whilst developing the draft for a potential novel I am currently working on - see later blog posts for updates! - to create a space where I can interact with other aspiring writers and avid readers, exploring through words in a time when physical wanderings are limited.

I also want to share my experiences with others, not just within an ordinary writing day but my experiences studying and working at university whilst still maintaining that writing muscle. As such, I will be delving into a normal day in the life of an undergraduate and, soon to be, Masters student, exploring the best places to find inspiration for writing and relaying any and all advice I received during my time as a student.

I am also planning to utilise my experience to help and engage with other aspiring writers, readers, students and more, whether that be creating CV’s or providing a spot check on pieces of work. Again, see upcoming blog posts for more updates on the progress for this aspect of the site.

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading my first entry, I hope you are looking forward to the future of this site as much as I am!

Speak again soon,

Emily
